Chet was responsible for assuring reliability of new products:
The recently launched LP1000 is virtually failure-free in customers’ hands primarily as a result of Chet's leadership in allocating reliability goals to subsystems and key components; designing test plans and specifying appropriate sample sizes to verify reliability; reporting issues discovered; and assisting to duplicate problems and get to root causes.

Chet was responsible for improving the reliability of existing products:
Every existing product is now well below its failure rate goal (average one-fifth) as a result of Chet's leadership in defining reliability metrics; working with Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) teams to analyze field data to understand issues; developing tests to reproduce failures; assisting with finding root causes; reviewing proposed changes: and designing tests to qualify changes.
Chet wrote a corporate guidance document on Product Reliability and gave two training sessions. He also coached and mentored several engineers in reliability.
